Ramanand Gangaram and two boys charged with robbery in Toronto

On Monday, August 23, 2010, a man and two young offenders where charged in a series of street robberies.

It is alleged that:

– on Monday, August 9, 2010, at 3:30 p.m., a 66-year-old woman was walking in the Brimorton Drive/Dolly Varden Road area when she was approached by three suspects,

– they tried to pull the victim’s purse away from her, but the she attempted to hold on to it,

– the victim was then pushed to the ground and robbed of her purse,

The woman sustained minor injuries.

It is further alleged that:

– on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 1:45 p.m., another 66-year-old woman was walking along Brimorton Drive when three suspects forcefully grabbed her purse, causing her to fall to the ground,

– the three suspects then ran off with the victim’s purse.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

It is further alleged that:

– on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 4:12 p.m., a 72-year-old woman was walking in the Ellesmere/Markham Roads area when she was approached from behind by three suspects,

– one of the suspects pulled the victim’s purse from her shoulder before all three men ran off,

– the victim tried unsuccessfully to chase after the suspects,

Ramanand Gangaram, 21, and two boys aged 13 and 15, all of Toronto, are each charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery.

The accused were scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, room 408, 9:30 a.m.
