An announcement by the RCMP to drop its investigation into an alleged bullying of North Battleford teen, that led him to kill himself in September 2013, has saddened the victim’s family, which is claiming there was foul play in the investigation. 15-year-old Todd Loik was found dead in his bedroom, and his mother, Kim Loik, claims that he committed suicide because he was being bullied since Grade 5 and that she knew his tormentors. Despite Todd’s brother, Ryan, claiming to be a witness of the bullying, Police announced to have not found any evidence to support the claim.

In the official press release, police mentioned that “as part of this investigation, a full forensic examination of the deceased’s cellphone and personal computer were completed.” It was explained that the “investigators reviewed in excess of 16,000 individual text messages, several hundred images and Facebook messages and approximately 30 videos. No evidence of any harassing or other related criminal behaviour was uncovered.” However, Kim Loik doesn’t seems to be convinced at all, as she mentioned in a Facebook post that she plans to seek a copy of the RCMP files to see for herself.

A memorial page to honor Todd listed many other teens who also committed suicide after allegedly getting bullied and whose harassers were never brought to justice. The post said “how many countless more kids do we know of went through HELL but no one other than their parents fought for them? How many countless more families will NEVER get justice?” It also read that “we will be lobbying all Governments to make bullying laws retro-active as of now. No more kids left behind!”
