George Kononow of Pickering charged in a $2.46 Million drug bust

On September 9, 2010 members of the DRPS Drug Enforcement Unit, DEU, conducted an investigation into allegations that a Pickering resident was selling drugs from his Bayly Street residence.

The DEU conducted their investigation and observed the suspect travelling to the Whitby area where he briefly met with two individuals. Both customers were arrested and found to be in possession of numerous oxycontin pills. A controlled drug and substance search warrant for the residence of the suspect was authorized and members of the drug unit executed the warrant. They seized 46 oxycontin tablets; 1.52 kg of hash; a shotgun and ammunition as well as cell phones and scales.

A second CDSA warrant for a shed located at the rear of the property was authorized and the execution of the search warrant revealed it was being utilized in the production, processing and packaging of hashish. Items seized included: 4 hashish presses; 118.58 kg hash or (18,574 grams); 3 food processors and 11,520 grams of marihuana shake packaged for distribution and sale.

The total drug street value of the seizure is estimated at over $2.46 million.

George KONONOW, age 35 of Bayly Street in Pickering is charged with: Trafficking a Controlled Substance; Possession for the Purpose x3; Possession of a Controlled Substance; Unsafe Storage; Unauthorized Possession of Firearm; Possession of Firearm Knowing Unauthorized; Contravention of Storage regulation; Possession of Prohibited or Restricted firearm with Ammunition and Production of Controlled Substance. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
