Peel Regional Police Inspector George Koekkoek, the Officer-in-Charge of Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau, addressed the media regarding the Caleb Harrison homicide investigation.

Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau investigators have arrested and charged two people jointly with two counts of Murder for the deaths of Mississauga residents Bridget Harrison, 63 years, and her son Caleb Harrison, 41 years.

On April 21, 2010, Belinda (Bridget) Harrison was found deceased in her Pitch Pine Crescent home. Peel Police investigated the death; it was deemed suspicious however no conclusive evidence was revealed to indicate homicide.

On August 23, 2013, Bridget Harrison’s 41 year-old son, Caleb Harrison was found dead in the same residence. It was apparent early on this was a case of homicide and evidence from this inquiry opened new avenues of investigation into the death of Mrs. Harrison. Those investigative leads led officers to the determination that her death was also a homicide.

These findings also led investigators to open up the investigation into the 2009 death, in the same home, of William Harrison, 65 years, husband of Bridget and father to Caleb. His death was originally determined to have been of natural causes but has since been re-classified to “cause unknown”. It remains under investigation.

On Tuesday January 28th, 2014 Peel Regional Police Homicide investigators arrested and charged Melissa Merritt, 33 years, and Christopher Fattore, 36 years, jointly with two counts of First Degree Murder.

Peel officers, with the assistance of the R.C.M.P. and Halifax Regional Police, took Merritt and Fattore into custody in Nova Scotia, where they had been living for the past four months. They are scheduled to be returned to the Superior Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday January 30th, 2014.
