Winnipeg man Jordan Thomas Munroe charged with second degree murder

On February 8, 2014 shortly before midnight emergency personnel were dispatched for the report of a male stabbed in the 1st 100 block of Noble Avenue.

Upon arrival, a 19 year old male was found to be suffering several stab wounds to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition.

A 19 year old male was arrested at the scene.

Members of the Major Crime Unit continued with the investigation.

Investigation had revealed that the accused, along with the victim and another person had been socializing when a verbal argument between the accused and victim occurred.  This resulted in the accused being evicted from the residence.  Minutes later the accused returned to get his coat and when allowed entry the argument resumed and escalated to the point where the accused armed him-self with a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the upper body.

On February 11, 2014 the victim succumbed to his injuries.  He has been identified as Marcus Neil BLACKSMITH 19 years of Winnipeg.

Jordan Thomas Munroe of Winnipeg previously charged with Attempt Murder and Aggravated Assault has now been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.

He is detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
