Victim James Bamwoya dies in a fatal fire incident in Cole Harbour

RCMP are investigating a death after a fire in Cole Harbour.

This morning, approximately 6:36 a.m., RCMP and Halifax Regional Fire Servicesresponded to a structure fire on Nestor Crescent. Halifax Fire Services removed a man from the residence but sadly he died at the scene.

The fire victim has been identified as James Bamwoya, 67, who died as a result of his injuries from a fire in his residence. His death is not believed to be suspicious.

The Medical Examiner’s office has been called in to assist. The matter remains under investigation by police and fire officials. Emergency vehicles are still on scene but the street is open to traffic.
