Members working out of the York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Davis Drive, west of Charles Street, in the Town of Newmarket.

On Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at approximately 3:10 p.m., a 2006 Ford Focus was being operated by a 53-year-old female from Uxbridge. The Ford was exiting a private driveway, west of Charles Street, when it struck a 74-year-old female pedestrian from Aurora. She was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The identity of the victim will not be released.

The driver of the Ford was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

CHARGED:
• Robin SANDERSON, 53, of Uxbridge

CHARGE:
• Fail to Yield from Private Driveway

Ms. SANDERSON is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Justice Court in Newmarket on Monday, October 25, 2010.
