Codiac Regional RCMP drug section members arrested 23-year-old Roger Ernest Pierskalla of Moncton on Thursday, September 16th and charged him with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and weapons related offences. A 19-year-old woman Moncton woman was also arrested. She is scheduled to appear in court in November.

The arrests were made when police executed a search warrant at a home in the residential area around Elmwood Drive and Donald Avenue in Moncton. Police seized two weapons, one being a loaded sawed off shotgun which is a prohibited weapon. Approximately 4 kilograms of marijuana, enough to make more than 10,000 marijuana cigarettes, was seized. Scales, packaging material and cash were also seized.

Mr. Pierskalla appeared in Moncton Provincial Court today and was remanded until his next court appearance on Monday, September 20, 2010.

The search warrant was obtained after Codiac Regional RCMP drug section officers arrested a 28 year old man the previous day, September 15th, in possession of marijuana. The investigation revealed the individual had been in the Elmwood Drive – Donald Avenue area prior to being stopped by police. He has been charged with possession with the purpose of trafficking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Reducing the drug trade in the community is a policing priority of Codiac Regional RCMP and these arrests demonstrate the commitment to fulfilling this objective.
