A 51-year-old Uxbridge woman’s body was discovered after a fire engulfed her apartment in Uxbridge early Saturday morning.

On Saturday, September 18, 2010 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were called to an apartment fire on Enzo Crescent in Uxbridge. Smoke was coming from the unit and a number of citizens had attempted to get inside but were turned back due to smoke and flames.

Responding officers also attempted to get inside the apartment but could not make it all the way due to heavy smoke and extreme heat. The Uxbridge Fire Department arrived quickly and extinguished the fire and discovered the deceased female inside.

The Office of the Fire Marshall was called and is continuing its investigation to determine how the fire started. The Coroner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the victim’s cause of death. Police investigators do not believe the death is suspicious in nature.
