Melvin Lopez arrested for drug related offences in Peel

Project Nexus was a joint investigation involving investigators from Peel Regional Police’s Major Drugs and Vice unit, York Regional Police’s Drug and Vice Unit, Toronto Police’s Drug Squad – Major Projects Section and the Canada Border Services Agency. The investigation focused on the production and trafficking of Ketamine, Heroin, Cocaine, Ecstasy and Marihuana.

As well, over the course of the investigation, officers were able to prevent an instance where suspects planned to kidnap individuals related to this criminal enterprise.

To date, a total of 29 suspects have been arrested and charged in relation to this project.

On Thursday, September 23, 2010, Melvin LOPEZ, a 30 year-old male of No Fixed Address, was arrested at Pearson International Airport. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to Project Nexus.

Waseem IQBAL, a 37 year-old male and resident of Mississauga, is still wanted on numerous drug and firearm related offences. He is described South Asian, 5’9” tall, with a heavy build and short dark hair. He speaks with a South Asian accent.
