Anthony Peter Gabriel Ross-Cameron charged with assaulting police officer

 On September 26th, at approximately 5:30 a.m. members of Winnipeg Police Service Stolen Auto Unit were in the area of Mountain Avenue and Salter Street when they attempted to spot check a male who was riding a bicycle.

Officers activated their emergency equipment and this male failed to stop, dropping the bicycle and immediately fleeing on foot. During the foot pursuit the suspect male sprayed a 40 year old male police officer in the face with a can of bear spray. The officer was treated at hospital and did not suffer any injury.

The suspect male was subsequently located by Division 13 Uniform Members in front of a residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue where he was arrested without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the bicycle had recently been reported stolen.

Anthony Peter Gabriel ROSS-CAMERON 20 years, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

– Assault Police Officer
– Assault with a Weapon
– Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
– Possess Goods Obtained By Crime Under 5,000
– Fail to comply Condition Recognizance X 3
– Breach Probation

ROSS- CAMERON has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
