Taxi driver Robert Burns charged with drinking and driving in Oshawa

Following a tip from a recent fare, DRPS officers located and arrested an impaired taxi driver in Oshawa yesterday afternoon.

On Thursday September 23, 2010, at approximately 12 noon, DRPS received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding a suspected impaired taxi driver, in which the complainant had been a recent fare. The complainant reported the suspect, a taxi driver for a local Oshawa taxi company, had crossed the center line numerous times during the trip.

Officers from Central East Division searched for this suspected driver and located him dropping his taxi off to another driver. It is unknown how many fares this driver completed on this date.

Robert BURNS, age 63, of Sedan Crescent in Oshawa is charged with: Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed .08 mg. The accused was released on an Undertaking with conditions.
