Toronto Police has confirmed that it has the suspect in custody who used scissors to stab multiple people at an office building in North Toronto. The single assailant was on the fifth floor of the building on Yonge Street north of Wilson Avenue at around 9:35 a.m. EMS shared that a total of four people were shifted to hospital, two of whom suffered serious injuries.

The authorities have yet to determine whether the person in custody worked in the building or was just visiting, whereas the motive for the attack remains unknown too. Const. Victor Kwong stated that “as you can understand it is still really early on. In fact the investigation portion of this may not have even taken place.” It was added that “we are dealing with scene management right now. We have not only the building that has to be protected for all the other occupants but also the floor on which this happened. We are going to deal with that and make sure there are no further injuries and then we will deal with the investigation.”

Tony Bitonti, who works in the building next door, explained that “I just saw two people being escorted to an ambulance. One had bandages around his head and the other had a torn T-shirt. There is a lot of police and EMS people moving around, but outside it is not much of a scene.”
