The suspect under trail for his involvement in a 2012 block party shooting that killed two people, alleged Galloway Boys gang member Nahom Tsegazab, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail. Tsegazab recently plead guilty to two counts of manslaughter and six of aggravated assault in the 2012 Danzig St. block party gunfight.

20-year-old Tsegazab was one of the organizers of the “Henny-Blocko” party at the D-Block public housing complex on July 16, 2012g. An agreed statement of facts signed by Tsegazab confirms that he was warned in advance that someone has threatened to come “shoot up the party.” Consequently, Tsegazab confessed to have armed himself with a .40-calibre semi-automatic gun that night and later shot back at a gunman who hit him with two bullets at around 10:40 p.m. The court heard that “Nahom Tsegazab recklessly fired 11 rounds into the direction of the shooter as he fled through the large crowd.”

At the same time, an unknown shooter fired 14 9-mm calibre rounds into the crowd of more than 200 partygoers, killing 14-year-old Shyanne Charles and 23-yaer-old Joshua Yasay. In addition to that, overall twenty-three people were injured during the chaotic gunplay. The court has so far received five emotional victim impact statements by members of the Charles and Yasay families. Shyanne’s mom, Afifa Charles, stated that “every night I go to sleep, I see my daughter dead, her eyes open, and I can’t do nothing to save her. Nothing” and added that “I had to bury my daughter. She was only 14.”
