Police has confirmed that a CFB Petawawa soldier, 31-year-old Cpl. Derrick Gallagher, has been charged with 18 new sex related offences, while it believes he might have victimized at least several dozen other women. The charges against Gallagher include eight new counts of sexual assault, nine counts of voyeurism and one count of assault. In addition to these charges, eight counts of sexual assault and two counts of voyeurism were also laid on April 1.

Moreover, police suspects that videos might also be involved in some of the crimes. According to the police, so far 18 victims have been identified but at least more than 50 other victims are yet to be recognized. Furthermore, it also warned about “serious health concerns” involved in the case and hence urged women to come forward so they can speak to them about the concerns. Police is also looking into the possibility of whether some of the women were drugged ahead of the assaults.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, it began an investigation on March 29 in response to a complaint that led to the charges involving eight victims in Petawawa. Whereas, the new charges laid on Thursday are related to 10 new victims from across Ontario and Quebec. Consequently, a photo of Gallagher and his tattoos is being circulated to ask any woman ever been alone with him to come forward. Moreover, OPP says their investigation is widespread and growing and there may be victims across Ontario and Quebec, dating back to 2007.
