The body of Ronald Savoie, a 38-year-old Grande-Digue man whose canoe overturned on the Scoudouc River on Saturday, April 26, 2014, has been found. On May 13, Shediac RCMP and the Shediac Fire Department were called to Scoudouc River, approximately 1.5 kilometers from Mr. Savoie’s last known location.
“At approximately 4:50 p.m., we received a call that Mr. Savoie’s body had been found in the Scoudouc River by two friends,” says Cpl. Alain LeBlanc of the Southeast District RCMP. “We were able to recover Mr. Savoie’s body and our investigation is now concluded. We have notified the family and they have asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Members of the Southeast District RCMP, Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, fire and ambulance crews as well as numerous volunteers participated in the search for the missing canoeist.
