A Newmarket man previously charged in connection with the Possession, Distribution and Production of Child Pornography has been sentenced to five years in jail.

On Friday, October 1, 2010, Lawrence BRANDRIDGE, 45, of Newmarket, was sentenced to five years in prison after previously pleading guilty to one count each of the Possession, Distribution and Production of Child Pornography. The guilty plea was entered before The Honourable Mr. Justice Richard Blouin the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Mr. BRANDRIDGE was also ordered to provide a mandatory DNA sample, forfeit any personal computers and is prohibited from attending areas where persons under the age of 16 years reasonably expected to be present.

The charges stem from the discovery of child pornography on computers and media belonging to him after an investigation that began in December 2008. Mr. BRANDRIDGE was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, after a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at his Newmarket residence where police seized a large number of computers and media for analysis.
