Sources have confirmed that numerous heavily armored Toronto police vehicles spread through the city overnight and conducted multiple dawn raids on Wednesday across the GTA, as part of Projects RX and Battery targeting guns and drugs. Toronto Police also confirmed to have executed more than 50 search warrants at around 5 a.m. in the morning.

As a result of the comprehensive raids, several suspects were taken into custody. According to the police, majority of these arrested individuals are taken to 41 Division at 2222 Eglinton Ave. However, it refrained from confirming the exact number of the arrested as it alleged it was not immediately clear. Witnesses confirm that approximately two hours after the raids began, undercover police officers dressed in basketball jerseys and baseball hats were spotted carrying bins of computer towers out of 125 Western Battery Rd. in Liberty Village, i.e. site of one of the raids. A twitter user entitled, grahamslaughter, reported on Twitter that “undercover officers dressed in basketball jerseys, baseball hats carry bins out of 125 Western Battery Rd. Computer tower inside. #crimeto.”

In addition to that, 27-year-old Kevin Collie was walking his dog Roxy before 7 a.m., and alleged that it was “pretty shocking” to see guns and drugs-related raids being executed in his building in the downtown westcondo complex because “it’s pretty quiet.” Police has promised to release more information as the morning progresses. Consequently, a news conference is scheduled to take place at police headquarters in a few hours.
