Investigators from Peel Regional Police’s Internal Affairs Bureau have arrested and charged a 20-year veteran of the police service.

On Thursday, October 7, 2010, Constable Warren Williams was arrested and charged with Perjury, Obstruct Justice (3 counts) and Breach of Trust (3 counts). These charges stem from his conduct during an R.C.M.P. drug investigation and subsequent trial.

These charges do not involve the circumstances surrounding the initial drug investigation.

Constable Williams’ next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, November 4, 2010, in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Brampton. He was suspended with pay on June 24, 2010, and remains so, pending the resolution of this matter in court.

While the investigation with respect to Constable Williams has concluded, additional aspects of this investigation are still on-going. As a result, no further information will be provided at this time.
