Environment Canada has announced to have issued another intense rainfall warning for most of Westman on Saturday morning as it claims that its several areas are expected to receive up to 75 mm of precipitation as slow-moving storms move through. For the already-wet region of Westman, it will be the third major rainfall event in just over a week.

Previously on last Thursday, July 19, Brandon received up to 75.2 mm of rain, which was close to an all-time record for 24 hours’ worth of precipitation on any date. Then again yesterday, the region received another 51.4 mm fell, which broke a previous record for the day of 39.4 mm in 2004. According to its latest warning, Environment Canada predicts up to 50 more millimetres of rain to fall today, which would successfully double the record for today’s date, i.e. a 60-year-old mark of 25.9 mm, set in 1952. Meanwhile, the campers at the music festival suffered through 28 mm of rain yesterday, and the system is feared to bring between 50–75 mm more today. Consequently, approximately 80 or so camping spots have already closed business due to the wet conditions.

According to the forecasters, foggy Saturday morning will bring a slow-moving low-pressure system that will expectedly bring clouds and then storms into southwestern Manitoba this afternoon — storms that will intensify Saturday night. The weather system is anticipate to spread through southwestern Manitoba this afternoon and into the areas around the Riding Mountain National Park and southeastern Saskatchewan in the evening.
