On May 27, 2010 Maria Ulyssa Allain, a 55-year-old woman from Bouctouche Cove, N.B. pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud for defrauding the Bouctouche Co-op of over $200,000.

The RCMP began an investigation in 2008 and discovered that this fraud had occurred over an eight year period, from 2000 to 2008. Maria Allain was a long time employee of the Bouctouche Co-op and the manager at the time the matter was reported to the RCMP.

Maria Ulyssa Allain appeared on October 21 before Moncton Provincial Court and was sentenced to 2 years less a day. She also was ordered to pay $175,000 in restitution.

  1. So she gets 2 yrs and the sicko guy who harms more than 10 children gets only 10 yrs. That is only one year for each child!! We need to make some serious improvements to our justice system!! What do you say Robert Goguen? Can you push for improvements here. I am sure Rob Moore and others on the Conservative Majority team will be willing to help here for Canada!!
