All major airlines, including Air Canada, have announced to have flights scheduled flights to Tel Aviv this week, in light of the ongoing violence between Israeli forces and Hamas militants. In addition to that, a Canadian entertainment company has also revealed to have suspended shows in the troubled region.

According to a statement published on the website of a promotion company on Wednesday, Shuki Weiss mentioned that performances by Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil has been postponed until 2015. The Cirque du Soleil show “Quidam” was scheduled to run at Tel Aviv’s Nokia Arena, from Aug. 6-21. The promoters planned to bring the famous acrobatic show to Tel Aviv but now cited safety concerns for the postponement. A joint statement issued by Marek Lieberberg and Shuki Weiss alleged that “unfortunately it is impossible to secure the safety of the ensemble and the audience at this time,” adding that “hence we have no choice but to look forward to an alternative and peaceful period to return to Israel as soon as we can.”

Whereas on the other hand, U.S. and Canadian airlines suspended flights to the region due to safety concerns. Air Canada’s flight to Tel Aviv, Flight AC84, scheduled to leave Toronto Pearson’s Airport on Wednesday 6:15 p.m. local time and a return flight from Ben Gurion airport, AC85, on Thursday were among those cancelled. An airline spokesperson, Isabelle Arthur, mentioned in a statement that “we will continue to evaluate the situation going forward, and provide updates as needed.
