Highway police have announced to have arrested a female Albertan suspect, 27-year-old Stephanie Martens of Okotoks, who is now expected to face charges in result of a police pursuit ending with her being found near the abandoned around the Corner Gas movie set in Rouleau.

The RCMP mentioned details in a press release, explaining that the chase began on Saturday morning, when Weyburn police tried to stop a vehicle travelling north on Highway 39 since it was being driven unsteadily and at a high rate of speed. Although police soon ended the pursuit, it was able to track the vehicle again after it collided with an RV in Milestone. Thereafter, another motorist witnessed the car travelling west near Wilcox and on grid roads in the area. Eventually, the vehicle was found abandoned near the Corner Gas set in Rouleau with a cracked windshield and missing side mirrors.

The RCMP consulted several witnesses present at the set, where filming of the Corner Gas movie recently wrapped up, and finally managed to locate and arrest the 27-year-old woman just a short distance away. The authorities soon found out that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Calgary, whereas the license plate was reported stolen separately out of Manitoba. Consequently, Stephanie Martens was charged with eight different offences including impaired driving and three counts of dangerous driving. She is anticipated to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday.
