Police has announced to have summed up its efforts to find missing Calgary trio at Airdrie acreage, which belonged to Douglas Garland’s parents, on Saturday evening after spending more than two weeks scrubbing though property for clues in the disappearance of Alvin and Kathryn Liknes and their five-year-old grandson Nathan O’Brien.

In her remarks, duty inspector, Nancy Farmer, mentioned on Sunday that “we’re no longer on the acreage as of (6 p.m. Saturday) night,” quickly adding that “we’re still searching (nearby) areas.” Despite the ground search being over, a National Research Council of Canada plane is anticipated to fly over the property for next few days as it has done in the past. Calgary Police acquired help from the National Research Council of Canada and used their equipment in the search for clues. Calgary Police Service mentioned in a media release on Saturday that it cannot reveal information about the search since the matter is before the courts.

Officials began searching the 16-hectare rural property on the weekend of July 5 after finding a green vehicle of interest on the land. Parents report disappearance of Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents on June 30 and after weeks of unsuccessful searching, they were presumed dead. Airdrie resident Douglas Garland was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder on July 14. Meanwhile, as police continue their investigation, support for the Liknes and O’Brien families continues to come in from the community.
