Federal Employment Minister, Jason Kenney, has recently explained that he is ready to exploit the “dysfunctional” American immigration system to attract high-tech workers to Canada when they are not able to acquire permanent residency in the United States. In his remarks, the minister mentioned on Wednesday that failure of the U.S. to reform its immigration system has allowed Canada to take advantage of the situation and make it easier for such applicants to apply to Canada.

Addressing reporter on Wednesday, Mr. Kenney revealed that “we’re seeking very deliberately to benefit from the dysfunctional American immigration system. I make no bones about it.” Mr. Kenny made a staunch announcement to devote $3.3-million in funding to help B.C. recognize the foreign credentials of new Canadians. Mr. Kenney elucidated that American tech sector brings in tens of thousands of brilliant young prospects from around the world, who graduate and are employed on short-term visas by major IT companies. He revealed that “very frequently, after a year or two, these super-smart young foreign nationals, because of their intelligence and entrepreneurial drive, have startup concepts that they want to launch. The problem they face is they can’t get green cards or permanent residency in the United States.”

Kenny offered that “if you’ve got a degree in something like computer science from Stanford or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Americans won’t give you a green card, you’re welcome to Canada. We have a functioning immigration system that will become even faster-moving under express entry in January of next year.”

  1. Quoting Mr Kenney “…“if you’ve got a degree in something like computer science from Stanford or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Americans won’t give you a green card, you’re welcome to Canada.”
So what are our Canadian Universities for? Why are we sending our men and women to UBC , UofA, UofT, Western, Waterloo, McGill if the Alberta Alliance/Reform Party aka CPC Harper government plans to bring in people into an oversupplied market of applicants for every job? Ask Canadians how many applications they send out to posted work positions. It’s in the hundreds sometimes more. This isn’t about “no one will apply.” This is about undercutting wages in the Canadian workplace for bigger profits for corporations. That’s what the “Harper Money Machine for my Pals” is doing.
