Maritza Velazquez arrested for the murder of Dennis Brown in Toronto

On Tuesday, October 26, 2010, police were called to 184 Munroe Street for a suspicious death.

Police located a man with obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death was determined to be stab wounds to the chest.

The victim has been identified as Dennis Brown, 56, of Toronto.

As a result of the investigation, the accused, Maritza Velazquez, 45, of Toronto was located in South Bend, Indiana. A provisional warrant of arrest was sought and the accused was arrested on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:30 a.m.

Maritza Velazquez is charged with Second Degree Murder.

The accused is being held in the St. Joseph County jail pending an extradition hearing.
