Toronto City Council overwhelmingly voted in favor of banning e-cigarettes from all city workspaces. The motion was passed by 36-2 vote on Monday, i.e. near the start of its final meeting of the term, which is expected to be a marathon session that could last days. In addition to that, the city also passed a motion that would ask the province to impose similar restrictions on e-cigarettes as to those in place for regular cigarettes.

In addition to these, the agenda for the final meeting entails some 400 items, including all kinds of issues like election signs and coordinating traffic light signals. Since the election are soon to arrive at the end of October, almost all councillors are anticipated to take advantage of the opportunity and have their final say of the term in order to use their time to show constituents that they are worth keeping around.

Ward 8 Coun., Anthony Perruzza, alleged that “given that it’ll be folks’ last opportunity to kick the can before the election, I think there will be lots to say.” Perruszza stated that “a number of folks will be running for re-election so they will want to put their best foot forward.” In addition to that, Perruzza confessed that elected representatives like these include Mayor Rob Ford, who have revealed on Monday that he plans to use the meeting to make a big push for coordinated traffic signals at intersections. Mr. Ford stressed that “This is where people want their money spent.”
