Investigators have deemed the death at a Pickering house fire to be suspicious and are awaiting the results from the post mortem.

On Monday, September 15, 2014, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police and fire responded to a garage fire at 1164 Pebblestone Crescent, arriving to find the attached two-car garage fully engulfed. After the fire was extinguished, the body of an adult female was located in the garage.

The post mortem was conducted yesterday and investigators from the DRPS Homicide Unit are meeting with the Pathologist Service of Ontario to determine the cause of death and the identity of the female. We expect those results later today.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is also assisting this investigation. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
