The DRPS has now determined that the woman found dead after Monday’s fire at a Pickering home is Durham Region’s third homicide victim of 2014.
The deceased is 39-year-old Carmela Knight of Pickering, who lived at the residence on Pebblestone Crescent. The post mortem showed obvious signs of trauma to her body.
The investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made. Police are appealing to the public to report any suspicious activity seen around this address on Monday night.
