On Wednesday September 17, 2014, members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested Justin Gerard Gryba (D.O.B.-April 28, 1988), of Saskatoon.

Mr. Gryba was previously charged in February, 2012 for Child Pornography related offences. Mr. Gryba plead guilty to those charges and was sentenced to 2 year’s incarceration. He was released earlier this year after serving his custodial sentence.

During the initial 2012 investigation and arrest, multiple computer devices were seized. A couple of these devices were locked, encrypted and password protected. Mr. Gryba would not provide the password to these devices.

For over the past 2 ½ years, our Units Forensic Technicians in our Saskatoon office and a Forensic Technician from Ottawa, have been diligently working at gaining access to these secure devices.

On July 17, 2014, they were successful in breaching a hardware encrypted device.

Through analysing the contents, evidence was located that led to Mr. Gryba’s arrest and new charges.

Mr. Gryba is charged with :

– 2 counts of Make Child Pornography – 163.1(2) C.C.

– 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography – 163.1(4) C.C.

– 2 counts of Voyeurism – 162(1) C.C.

The victims in this investigation have been identified and the families have been notified.

Mr. Gryba made his first court appearance this morning in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
