Investigators with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses after a fatal pedestrian collision in the City of Markham.
On Saturday, September 20, 2014, shortly after 6 p.m., a 17-year-old male and 16-year-old female were struck by a van in the parking lot of a nightclub located at 590 Alden Road. The driver of the van stopped to check on the well-being of the pedestrians. The 17-year-old male was suffering from trauma as a result of the collision and was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to those injuries in hospital.
The female left the scene but was located by police a short time later, suffering from minor injuries and was transported to hospital.
Members of the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and took over the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
