On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, members of the Toronto Police Fugitive Squad arrested Jean Marc Murat, 43, of Mississauga.

It is alleged that:

– on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, around 8:30 p.m., two Canadian citizens, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were kidnapped from the area of Bourdon, Haiti, by armed individuals

– the kidnappers forcibly confined them and demanded a ransom of $1 million U.S. for their release

During the investigation, Jean Marc Murat was allegedly identified as one of the parties responsible for the kidnapping.

He fled Haiti and was believed to have entered Canada shortly after the kidnapping.

Recent information came to light that he may be in the GTA and the Toronto Fugitive Squad was able to locate and arrest him.
