The Conception Bay South Soccer Association has announced to have suspended all its operations at the Topsail soccer field in light of a remorseful incident of a young boy’s stabbing on Thursday night. According to a statement issued by the association on its website, the association expressed its concerns for all people impacted by the traumatizing incident.

The association mentioned that “CBS Soccer is shocked and saddened by an incident at Topsail Field Thursday evening that sent one of our young players to hospital,” adding that “the thoughts and prayers of the association are with the young player and his family and friends. CBS Soccer is working with the RNC and the Town of Conception Bay South with regards to this incident.” Authorities have confirmed that local schools will be receiving crisis counsellors on site to talk with students still coming to terms with the horrific incident. One of the schools, Holy Family School in Paradise, was attended by the 11-year-old stabbing victim. Soon after the incident, the victim was transported to a St. John’s hospital last night and remained in serious condition as of 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Whereas on the other hand, although The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has not laid any charges, it has a suspect in custody. The soccer association has confirmed that its office will remain closed on Friday and that parents looking to retrieve items from the field in Topsail will be able to do so once RNC investigators release the crime scene.
