Motorcyclist dies in a fatal collision at northbound on 4 Street N.W.

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that took place this morning, Monday, Sept. 29, 2014.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., a 55-year-old man was operating a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on 4 Street N.W., when a woman in a 2011 Honda Civic traveling south on the same street, turned left onto the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist applied his brakes, locking the front wheel, causing the motorcycle to drop. Both the motorcycle and man struck the Honda Civic.

The man received fatal head injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The woman was not injured.

Alcohol or speed are not considered to be factors in the collision.
