Fatal collision near Williams Street claims elderly pedestrian woman’s life

Investigators continue to try and determine the cause of an early morning collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Shortly before 8:00 a.m., a 51-year-old man driving north on Renfrew Street struck a 74-year-old woman as she crossed the road mid-block near Williams Street. The pedestrian was rushed to hospital, but did not survive.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

This is Vancouver’s 3rd pedestrian fatality of 2014.
