Suspect Mohamed Efiye charged with sexual assault

On Monday November 3, 2014 a 16 year old girl received a call from an acquaintance of hers to meet him in the 1100 block of University Avenue East.  She attended the area and met him outside of an apartment building.  She alleges that the male took her to the side door where she indicates that he started to try to remove her pants.  The male was persistent and was also attempting to touch her chest.  He did manage to get his hand inside her shirt and touched her breast.  The victim was able to press re-dial on her phone which immediately dialed her friend.  She told her friend what was happening to her.

Her friend called 911 and advised the dispatcher what was happening to his friend.

Windsor Police 911 dispatch called the victim’s cell phone and spoke with her.  The man continued to grab the victim as she tried to push him away.  The 911 dispatcher told the victim to continue screaming and to get to a nearby convenience store.  The Suspect would not let her in the store and would not let her stop walking.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. responding police officers arrived at the intersection of Tuscarora Avenue and Marentette Avenue.  Officers observed the victim struggling with the suspect who appeared to have her in a headlock.  As police pulled up, the male looked at the police cruiser and began to run.  Officers gave chase on foot and apprehended the suspect. 
 
Mohamed Efiye, 21 years of age is charged with Sexual Assault, and 3 counts of Breach of Probation
