Police are investigating a homicide on Vancouver’s west side following an early morning stabbing.

Around 6:30 this morning, police responded to the lobby of an apartment building on Balsam Street near West 41st Avenue after receiving a report of a fight. When police arrived, they found a man in the lobby who appeared to have been stabbed. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The victim, a 59-year-old Vancouver man, died in hospital a short time later.

Shortly after 8 a.m., with the assistance of the Coquitlam RCMP, police arrested a 65-year-old Richmond man, in Coquitlam, in connection with this morning’s west side homicide.

The suspect and the victim are known to each other and investigators will be looking into the motive for the attack.
