The Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit has charged a 50 yr. old Hamilton man with Manslaughter following an altercation between two residents at Emerald Lodge which is a Residential Care Facility.

On August 12th, 2010, Carl Hammond 62 yrs., was involved in an altercation with a fellow resident. Mr. Hammond required medical treatment and was transported by ambulance to hospital where he received treatment. It was later determined that Mr. Hammond had suffered a fractured hip and required surgery. Following surgery, Mr. Hammond experienced medical complications and died of pneumonia on October 27th, 2010. Upon consultation with medical experts, police have determined that the fracture to Mr. Hammond’s hip was a significant contributing factor in the chain of events which ultimately resulted in his death.

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged Steven White, 50 yrs. of Hamilton with Manslaughter.
