Charges have now been formally laid against two men allegedly involved in an assault that happened in the early morning hours of October 8th, 2010.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on October 8th, Vancouver Police were called to an alleged “gay bashing” assault near the Tinseltown Mall at Abbott and West Pender Streets. Two men were initially taken into custody at the scene but were released while the case was being investigated.

An extensive investigation was conducted which resulted in one of the suspects being found in Port Moody and the other in Fort St. John. Michael Anton Hostland, 22 years old of Port Moody, is charged with one count of assault. Dustin James Sciog, 20 years old of Fort St. John, is charged with three counts of assault. Neither Hostland nor Sciog are previously known to police and both are next scheduled to be in Downtown Community Court at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22nd.
