Suspect Kevin Douglas Dalton charged with manslaughter

The Calgary Police Service has charged one person in relation to the death of a man in February of this year.

Suryan Giama, 25, was last seen by a family member on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at a residence in Woodbine.

His vehicle was later recovered in southwest Calgary on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

A thorough investigation, which included several searches in and around Calgary, led detectives to believe Giama was likely murdered.

On Monday, June 30, 2014, Cochrane RCMP received a phone call from a citizen who located what appeared to behuman remains on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation near Morley.

Following an autopsy, the remains were identified as those of Giama. A cause of death is yet to be determined but it is believed he died as a result of an altercation.

On Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, Kevin Douglas Dalton, 35, was arrested at an address in southeast Calgary withoutincident.

He has been charged with manslaughter and committing an indignity to a human body.

It is believed the victim and the accused were known to one another. To protect the integrity of the investigation, the nature of the relationship and the potential motive are not being released at this time.

Investigators are not looking for any further suspects.
