A couple of early-morning collisions in North York sent six passengers to hospital on early Saturday morning. The first incident took place near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue at around 5:20 a.m., involving two vehicles. Toronto Paramedic Service confirmed that two people were transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries due the accident, whereas two other were also taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Whereas on the other hand, another accident near Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue involved a car and a tractor trailer, which injured two more people at around 6 a.m. Officials confirmed that one of the car’s occupants was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being retrieved from the vehicle, while the other was also shifted for serious injuries. However, tractor trailer driver was not injured.

District Chief Al Andrews mentioned that “one patient was trapped in the car in the passenger seat and we cut the door post out and were able to free him.” He explained that it took 45 minutes to free the other passenger during the rescue. Andrews alleged that “his legs were pinned under the dash and he was in there pretty tight so it was a bit of a challenge.” The circumstances that led to the collision are so far not known, but paramedics’ suspect that a wheel might have ended up flying off the tractor trailer and struck a vehicle. Allen Road is closed between Sheppard Avenue and Transit Road as police investigate.
