A brutal over-speeding car’s accident at Notre Dame St. E. on early Saturday morning has resulted in the death of two young men while three more are still in critical condition. The vehicle allegedly crashed into a tree and then struck the balcony of a home. Montreal police constable, Manuel Couture, confirmed that the two deceased included an 18-year-old and 19-year-old man.

Whereas on the other hand, another 19-year-old male driver and the two passengers, a young woman and man, are still in hospital and remain in critical condition. According to Couture, speed was definitely a factor in the crash, though it is yet to be determined whether alcohol or drugs were also involved or not. He said that police will soon take a blood sample of the driver. Moreover, Couture confirmed that police are aware of rumors about drag racing in the area, but it cannot be said whether the vehicle was involved in a race with another vehicle. The accident took place at around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday when the driver heading west on Notre Dame at a high speed lost control of the vehicle at the corner of Marien Ave.

According to the woman whose balcony was hit, Johanne Morin, he was up at the time but couldn’t see the accident. She said that friends had just left and “two minutes later I heard a big boom.” Morin stated that first he thought a tree had hit the balcony and then saw what had happened. “I was sad for the young people.”
