In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning. Deven Barney Holst, 22, was released from a correctional facility on Monday, Nov. 22, after completing a sentence for failing to abide by conditions of a recognizance order. In the past Holst has been convicted of the attempted abduction of a child.
Holst is considered by police to be an untreated sexual offender who poses a risk of significant harm to the community, particularly to children. He has offended against both strangers and children that are known to him. Holst will be subjected to strict conditions of a Section 810.1 C.C. recognizance order, including the prohibition of attending places where children under the age of 16 are likely to be found. Holst will be supervised closely by officers in the Edmonton Police Service’s Behavioral Assessment Unit.
The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community about Holst.

Why was this person not treated? I love how all our tax paying dollars go towards… wait, where exactly does it go? If this person is conscomment_IDered to “pose a risk of significant harm” to the public why is he allowed out “untreated”. I love the penal system, always out to protect the human rights of people who inflict pain and suffering upon the rest of society.
