Mississauga man Derek Bissue faces fifteen counts in connection to human trafficking investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the community about an arrest in a Human Trafficking investigation. 

On Thursday, December 11, 2014, officers from the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into a woman, 21, being forced into the sex trade. 

It is alleged that: 

– she was assaulted 

– she was forced into the sex trade 

– she was taken to various strip clubs in the GTA 

– she was forced to work as an exotic dancer 

– an attempt to take her money resulted in police intervention 

Derek Bissue, 22, of Mississauga, is charged with: 

1) Trafficking in Persons 
2) Trafficking in Persons for Material Benefit 
3) Exercise Control 
4) two counts of Overcome Resistance by Choking 
5) Uttering Threats – Death 
6) Uttering Threats – Bodily Harm 
7) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 
8) Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon 
9) Carry Concealed Weapon 
10) Carry Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Annumition 
11) three counts of Theft Under $5000 
12) Robbery 

He made a court appearance at College Park on Friday, December 12, 2014, room 501. 

Police believe there may be more victims.
