The RCMP has confirmed that a Surrey teen was killed in the early hours of Saturday and announced to be seeking help from public to identify and locate those involved. The RCMP has appealed that anyone having had heard or witnessed anything related to the incident should contact them.

According to an official press briefing, it was confirmed that 15-year-old Dario Bartoli was at Bakerview Park at 154th and 18th ave. in Surrey at around 2:30 a.m., with another 14-year-old boy, when they were attacked by a group of likely four, five or more individuals. IHIT’s Sgt. Jennifer Pound alleged that “we believe that it happened outside, the assault took place outside. The two teen victims then fled to a nearby home,” adding that “we believe there was a group of people hanging around yesterday.” It was added that “we believe there was alcohol consumed which makes our investigation a little bit more difficult in the beginning stages. We are looking to put out a public advisory and reach those who might have some information about this.”

Furthermore, Sgt. Pound speculated that a weapon is believed to be involved in the deadly attack. Sgt. Pound explained that the two young teens escaped their attackers and sought refuge in a nearby home to call the police. Thereafter, Bartoli was shifted to Peace Arch Hospital but failed to survive and passed away at around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday. Whereas, the 14-year-old boy sustained only minor injuries and was treated at hospital and released.
