Cape Breton Regional Police have confirmed to have found missing 24-year-old Chrima Joy Denny at 1 a.m. Atlantic time and revealed that she intends to return home. According to Denny’s father, Keith, the news is an early Christmas present for his family. He revealed that Denny’s photo was faxed from a women’s shelter in Knoxville where she’s staying, and he spoke with Chrisma briefly on the phone.
Keith stated that “I called her and told her I loved her and we’ve been missing her,” adding that “I said the family is really happy right now. She wants to come home.” He said “the family is now making arrangements to bring her here by plane, car, some kind of travel.” Keith revealed that his daughter only has her status card at the time and they’ll have to look to get her an emergency passport at the border in Maine. Keith confirmed to have not spoken to Chrisma about how she got to Knoxville, alleging that “I wouldn’t go there,” because “in a situation like this, I wouldn’t question her like that because I told her she’s coming home, stay still, you’re in a good place. I talked with the people she was staying with at the shelter and they know I’m calling you and you’re safe there.”
The 24-year-old was reported missing to police in early November. Cape Breton Regional Police and Nova Scotia RCMP recently shifted their search south of the border, with the help of the Knox County Sherriff’s Office. Keith said that “it’s an early Christmas present and everybody’s crying.”
