Edmonton police ruled Raad Hamza’s death as homicide following autopsy results

Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section detectives continue to investigate the fatal assault of a man in southwest Edmonton on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014.

The Medical Examiner conducted the victim’s autopsy on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. The death was deemed to be a homicide, and the cause of death was head trauma.

The autopsy confirmed the man’s identity as Raad Hamza, 24. This is Edmonton’s 27thhomicide for 2014.

The investigation continues. Charges have not been laid.

Background:

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the fatal assault of a 24-year-old male, who was discovered on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 in southwest Edmonton.

Whyte Avenue Beat officers discovered an unconscious male on the sidewalk in the area of 105 Street and 82 Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. The male was treated and transported to hospital with life threatening injuries, where he passed away.
