Hamilton driver dies in a fatal single vehicle collision in City of Hamilton

On Friday December 26th, 2014 the 59 year old male driver succumbed to hisinjuries. According to the Coroner the driver died as a result of the Collision. (Cause of death to be related to hypoxic brain injury.) . At the request of thefamily the identity of the driver is not being released at this time.

This is now the City’s 18th traffic fatality of 2014. (11 drivers, 3 passengers and 4 pedestrians)

Background:

On Wednesday December 24th, 2014 at approximately 8:15a.m., a single motorvehicle collision occurred in the area of Upper Wentworth St. and Mohawk Rd. East in the City of Hamilton. A 59 Year old Hamilton Man was driving northbound on Upper Wentworth Street, when he suddenly suffered what appears to be a medical condition as he entered the intersection of Upper Wentworth St and Mohawk Rd. East. The vehicle continued northbound however it entered the southbound lanes, then proceeded to run off the road into the parking lot of 778 Upper Wentworth St. The vehicle continued in the same direction until it flipped onto its roof after dropping off a 1.5 meter barrier wall. The driver had to be extricated by Hamilton Fire Department. The man was transported to hospital in serious condition

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
