Calgary police have canvased the premises and are inspecting the crime scene of an apparent shooting spree in southwest Calgary on early New Year’s Day. According to Det. Steve Adair, at least seven people were shot, among which two are in critical condition, following a shooting at a house party.

Currently, police is trying to narrow down a shooting suspect but are even unclear whether there is one or more. CPS confirmed to have received several 911 calls at around 5:05 am about a possible shooting in the 1900 block of 36 St. SW. Adair explained that “upon arrival, CPS members located five victims with gunshot wounds, both inside the residence and outside. They were subsequently transported to hospital, two of them in life-threatening condition.” Furthermore, Adair added that two additional people also showed up later at the hospital on their own, suffering from gunshot wounds “possibly sustained at the same incident.” He confirmed that majority victims are approximately in their 20s.

Det. Adair revealed that there were almost 50 people in attendance at the home for a New Year’s Eve party. He confessed that “we have no suspect information at this time.” However, he confirmed that police is currently investigating and interviewing witnesses to get a clearer timeline of what happened at the time. Adair also refrained from confirming whether the incident was a targeted shooting or not. There are several road closures in the area.
