Delta Police have revealed the identity of 24-year-old Surrey man shot dead in the driveway of a home in North Delta on Friday evening as Arundeep Cheema. According to the police, the man was visiting the residence, i.e. in the 11800 block of 75A Avenue, at the time of his death at around 8:20 p.m.

The police have confirmed that it did not only know the victim beforehand, but had also attended to disturbances and other issues at the home on a number of occasions. According to the police, Mr. Cheema was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of his car in the driveway. However, it failed to explain how many shots were fired. Whereas on the other hand, the residents in the area have mentioned in their remarks that they only heard a sound like the popping of firecrackers and thereafter a car driving away quickly.

Delta Police Major Crimes and Forensic investigators have confirmed to have taken over the investigation. According to Sgt. Sarah Swallow, police had attended the crime scene residence in the past for “various different incidents,” but still failed to confirm how many times that happened. She stated that “we do believe this wasn’t a random incident and the person was targeted.” According to Sgt. Swallow, even though the police do not believe that the neighbourhood is in any kind of danger, it is still cautious that criminals are inclined to settle disputes with firearms, which might end up endangering the public.
